President Signs Secondary Energy Laws
President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo signed a set of secondary laws for the constitutional energy reform, which reverse the changes made in 2013 by former President Enrique Peña Nieto. These laws strengthen the Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) and Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) as public state-owned enterprises, allowing them to become more efficient and transparent while adhering to the principle of Republican Austerity.
- The laws include the State Public Enterprise Law for Petróleos Mexicanos; the State Public Enterprise Law for Comisión Federal de Electricidad; the Energy Planning and Transition Law; the Electric Sector Law; the Hydrocarbons Sector Law; and the National Energy Commission Law.
- “We are securing the country’s future viability, the people of Mexico, and the guarantee of energy justice,” she emphasized.
